Three Green Lights resumes after a hiatus and will be published every Sunday in view of the 5-day army work week.

CoD4 was the most awesome game of 2007, no doubt. It’s so good it has already set the standard for its sequel to be met or, more likely, raised.
FoodandFrag will be hosting regular theme weeks on Modern Warfare, and this week we reminisce the 5 best moments in the first game.
Kickass Moment #1: Death from Above

Easily one of the most memorable missions in the game, you play as a AC130 gunship controller assisting the SAS team on the ground from way above. With three different guns to choose from, you will spend half the time laughing at your pathetic enemies as they get blown a few metres high, not knowing what hit them. The voice acting is also really cool as you get instructions on what you can shoot ( remember the church? ) and it does ring bells of the short scene from Transformers where they shot Scorpnok with the gunship. It’s more cool when you get to string combos on those black ( or white, depending on the thermal vision used ) ants in the Arcade mode.

Kickass Moment #2: Mile High Club

I bet no one saw that coming – it’s like one of those bonus scenes you get as a reward for staying in the cinema when the credits start rolling. If you’ve played Ghost Squad in the arcade, then multiply that action by ten for the last mission of CoD4. Bullets fly everywhere and part of the cabin even gets blown up as you and your SAS team battle through an insane firefight to rescue a V.I.P hostage from a bomb-rigged and terrorist-infested 747. Now we know things will be much more stealthier in real-life, but who cares when you can get an adrenaline rush on a plane that never seems to rip apart with all that automatic firing. A fitting end to a gripping single-player campaign.

Kickass Moment #3: Martyrdom
Normally when we kill an opponent, we tend to just advance and more often than not, walk over the dead body. Some have that morbid fascination of looking at their kills, while most of us just have the instinct to hunt where the prey comes. So imagine taking your enemy by surprise when you still score a kill even when you’re dead with the Martyrdom perk. That cheeky you pulls the pin on your grenade just before you’re down, leaving behind a ticking human bomb which will give your enemy a nasty surprise. This is such a cheap kill that many servers actually ban players from using this perk to balance the game, but then again war is never fair.

Kickass Moment #4: Helicopter Support

In other multiplayer games with vehicles like Battlefield 2, you normally have to hope for a skillful pilot on your team to provide you with air support and that doesn’t come easily. In CoD4, the helicopter is computer-controlled and rarely does it miss its shots. So long as it doesn’t get shot down, the chopper will remain in the air racking up the kills for you, and this god-like ability is only available to you if you have a seven-kill streak. No wonder your mum told you it’s not safe to play outdoors.

Kickass Moment #5: All Ghillied Up

Nothing comes as close to being a real sniper as the SAS mission in CoD4, where you follow your team leader through enemy territory and behind enemy lines to snipe your target. It’s a very long journey on foot, and intense too, especially when you’re just centimetres away from the tracks of a tank while lying hidden in the grass. Oh, beware of blood-thirsty dogs too.
[...] that is awesome’ ala the AC-130 mission, and make you want to replay these missions again. ( Read the previous entry on COD4’s best 5 moments. [...]
